The Visitor
My writing process:
1. Make a cup of tea.
2. Stare at my computer
3. Rifle through old documents for ideas.
4. Stare at my computer but in a more productive and focused manor
5. Start typing. It doesn’t have to be good or even relevant. Just start typing.
Peers
We wanted to write a short film about our Creative Writing class by sharing our experiences through humor. “Peers” is really a love letter to our Creative Writing class, and we hope that others find it entertaining as well. The whole process of writing “Peers” was super fun and we’re both proud of our end product.
Out of the Bear Trap, Into the Bear
When making or creating, I think about what I wish to see and do my best to bring it forth.
Substance A
I wrote Substance A as an intimate look into relationships broken apart by overdosing, as well as a metaphorical and psychological deep dive into the minds of those who fall victim to the rage of intoxicated partners.
No One Needs to See It
I wrote this to show how impactful words from loved ones can be, and how long the trauma can last. I write to express myself, and maybe to make others with problems like mine feel less alone.
my pain reeks joy
My process behind this was writing about a marionette doll and how they are being pulled on by strings to move, and I related that to some of my feelings and how there is more beyond the surface of how it seems someone is.
A Meeting of Two Souls
Many people draw, paint and orate to express their passion. I write my passion. Writing for me was a process that I refined over my academic career. My writings are usually mandatory essays for history or language arts. It was initially quite nebulous when I first conceive of it. When I work in the background, that cloudy image manifests a more realized shape as I consider the structure of my essay.
Doppelganger
While writing this script i was in a bit of a slump, not doing too well. I got inspired and quickly got to writing the script which took me out of my slump. Writing has always made me feel better.
Clear Water
"Clear Water," tells the unique story of a mother desperate to see her son after being trapped and isolated in a mental health hospital.
Letter to the Editor
I have a passion for writing non-fiction and displayed my skills throughout this letter to the editor. I am extremely proud of this piece as it was timely and included a clear call to action.
The Sparrow
This piece was written because of a prompt given to my creative writing class at the beginning of the year. The prompt was a picture of a swimming pool that was structured on the top of a building seemingly in a cityscape.
Black Beaded Bracelet
"Black Beaded Bracelet" was inspired by my dad and my mom. I wanted to write a piece that captured their individual personalities with references to how they live. My dad is a meticulous, organized person and my mom was a glamorous one.
The Woman Buried the Dead story
My writing teacher had opened a book and turned to a random page, then closed his eyes and pointed to a random sentence then read it to the class. I then imagined what the rest of the story.
Two Birds, One Stone
"Two Birds, One Stone" is a nostalgic story that touches on the naivety of childhood friendships and the crushing reality of growing up and growing apart. This script was created as a collaborative screenwriting assignment in our Creative Writing class.
