This contemporary piece, "Confronto", was choreographed by my instructor Marina Osipova. Through the creation process, at times, she encouraged me to find my own interpretation to the music which enabled a sense of freedom and openness of my body. To do this, my teacher and I created a chain of certain symbolic movements, that expresses the strenuous path of women. For example, I create a rocking gesture to represent the struggles of raising and nurturing a baby. There are specific powerful poses and positions that I make with my hands in fists, which demonstrates bravery and strength. The music itself goes through a dramatic change, from peaceful melody to striking, overlapping chords. Following the music, I use not only movements, but facial expressions in order to showcase the inner world of a woman, which might be calm, doubtful, resistant, and resilient. I believe that this form of art helps me to convey my ideas and emotions without using words, which is more influential and heartfelt for me and the audience.

Dance has created a place for me to go and be my most self. I believe that this art has provided a meaning for my life and shaped my perspective of the world. It has encouraged me to always reach beyond the limits and helped to grow my self-confidence.
