• Artist Statement

  “Digital Connection Collection” is a series of poems that detail a science fantasy tale of fractured relationships and discoveries of self love. A woman devises a virtual world and persona in order to become a person her partner will adore. However, when the relationship breaks away from virtual reality and is brought into physical reality, she is forced to embrace her true self and decide if her love will ultimately damage her. I constructed fictional tales from my own experiences in a long-distance relationship, creating a character that would grow up as the story progressed and attempt to overcome self-hatred by learning to speak up for herself and thinking more independently.

• Creative Statement

  The act of creating any form of art allows me to grow as a person. Turning my incomprehensible emotions into metaphors or symbolism not only helps me to analyze and understand my feelings, but it also informs me of my identity, giving me the opportunity to share who I am.
