For my poem "Dry", I was largely inspired by the death of my grandfather, and my fear of forgetting the little details about him as time goes on. The moment that inspired my poem "Sunrise" was a sunrise that I watched with my friends on a camping trip. We had gotten up before the rest of our camp to enjoy the beach come to life, and when I returned home to waking up by alarm clock instead, I decided I wanted to write about the beauty of the sunrise. Both of these pieces come from a place of emotion.

The role creativity plays in my life is one of escapism. Whether it's painting, figure drawing, writing, or photography, expressing creativity temporarily wipes away the outside world and my worries. I am constantly seeking out opportunities to expand on what I know.
