The song that I have chosen to share is titled, "Fooled." It took me a few weeks to write this song. First, I came up with the picking pattern you here at its onset, followed by the melody and the lyrics. I wanted the chords to sound contemporary and simple, leaving the picking pattern to emphasize complexity. The melody heard in the song is far from the first melody I came up with. However, through wrestling with the notes, phrases and syllables, I landed on the current melody. In this process, the lyrics were my last step and were written over the course of about a week. The lyrics are written from a different perspective than my own (something I do not normally do), about a situation one of my close friends was going through at the time. These steps compile to form what I believe to be some of my best work.

Through my creativity, I am able to express myself emotionally to an extent that I would not feel comfortable through spoken words. Eleven years of songwriting has helped me achieve a self identity and establish my values in life.
