• Artist Statement

  The poem that I submitted is about someone very close to Me's battle with recovery from a serious drug addiction. I wrote this after I realized just how much seeing them struggle affected me. I recognized that seeing them become better was a more gratifying feeling than anything. I have never been more proud of anyone in my lifetime, and I think my writing reflects that.

• Creative Statement

  Exploring and expressing my creativity helps me to access a part of me that is usually very hidden. A part where I have the freedom to create and to be myself. I think this is reflected in my writing, considering that I use my poems as an outlet to share my thoughts, feelings, and emotions.
