• Artist Statement

  My artwork uses shadows to highlight my friends eye. I love that you can see all her freckles. I chose to use shadows to compose my photo because I wanted the message behind my artwork to be that even people who seem really happy can be going through hard times too. Lines guide your eyes to her eyes, which create a melancholy feeling you can feel from her. Overall, I wanted to create a photo with interesting composition and also showed a thought-provoking perspective.

• Creative Statement

  Exploring my creative side has helped me to balance out my life and feel less stressed with my life. I think art has allowed me to focus on not expecting too much of myself and use other strategies to let out my frustrations and express myself. It’s also a great time to be off screens.
