When I first created these poems, I wanted the subject to be about the grief of womanhood that often accompanies changing yourself to fit others, as well as the restlessness that comes with this. To convey a sort of desperation hidden between the careful words of my poetry, I worked tirelessly in the dark of my room almost every night, embodying that restlessness and desperation that I have experienced so greatly in my life from trying to change myself from others. Except unlike before, I poured those emotions into my poetry instead of internalizing it.
As I gained the ability to be alone with my thoughts and the uncomfortable silence of my emotions through these pieces, I became infatuated with the fingerprint of my heart that I left on my poetry. I believe every artist leaves their own fingerprint through their artwork as long as they have the passion and the restlessness that now, instead of trying to change for others, comes from trying to heal and better yourself. I hope you enjoy these poems and they give you as much comfort as they gave me!
