I originally wrote this poem for an English assignment called "I Am From." My class's job was to use imagery and creativity to describe our upbringings; why we are who we are today. In my case, growing up in Finland, Europe shaped where I find the beauty in nature and people. I first wrote this poem for a grade, but when my parents read it they told me my writing was worth so much more.

Writing poetry gives me the opportunity to use unlikely examples that represent my life and my experiences. It doesn't necessarily matter if other people don't understand my words when I can relate to my writing.
