I Am More Emotionally Attached to the Octopus

• Artist Statement

  I had an assignment in art class where I had to draw something in white colored pencil on black paper. I decided to draw an octopus, because I find sea creatures of all kinds fascinating, especially invertebrates such as octopi and sea slugs. I ended up deciding on an octopus specifically because I thought they would fit the atmosphere of the piece and I found an amazing photo that I could base my work on.

  For me, creativity is being able to see things and reimagine them in my own style, as well as being inspired by things I see so I can create something entirely new.
