• Artist Statement

  I chose to draw a jar of paintbrushes along with dahlias strewn out on the table to show my interests in art and nature. I selected a close up view to make the composition more intriguing and mysterious. In addition, the reflections on the glass warp our perceptions of what's inside the jar, which to me represents how our inner lives differ from other’s perceptions of us, something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. I enjoyed the technical challenges of portraying the intricate details of dahlias and glass, which for me captured the challenges of fully expressing my inner experiences.
