This painting is inspired by the bond I share with my sister. People always tell us we either look exactly alike or completely different, but no matter how they see us, there’s always something about us that makes it clear we’re sisters. I think of that ’something’ as our aura—a characteristic beyond physical appearance. I chose unusual colors for my portrait to symbolize the almost supernatural feeling that comes from this ’shared aura phenomenon.’ The swirling patterns represent that connection between us.
