At home, my mom always cooks every meal. That is what I was used to, and I do not think I have truly appreciated the entirety what that meant until dinner during one long weekend. I remember it distinctly. My dad, sister, and I were sitting at the table. I had called my mom to hurry up and come eat, but she replied saying that she was just about to finish the last dish (mapo tofu, my favorite) and that we should start without her. When she finally sat down, the other dishes had gone tepid, and some of them were already half eaten. That moment was what inspired this piece. Art has always been my way of expressing myself, and for me, this piece was the best way I could show how grateful I was for everything my mom does behind the scenes, all the love she shows me.

To me, creativity means expressing my beliefs and dreams in a way that others can recognize and relate to. True creativity comes from not being bound by societal constraints, by creating work because I like it and not because I want someone else to.
