I wanted to highlight countries that have historically been exploited for labor and natural resources. Utilizing practices such as child labor, slave labor, or economic control, these businesses are able to turn huge profits at the expense of human lives. To show this, I placed red thumbtacks over some of those locations which include the Congo, Guatemala, and Vietnam. The words, “Now you CAN afford to buy” alongside the businessman’s casual smile makes this seem like just another business deal. The position of the viewer places them as a silent participant in this inhumane cycle.

Creativity means putting your inner thoughts or feelings outward. It doesn’t matter what form that expression takes or if anyone sees it. What’s important is that you did it.
