This short film explores the emotional impact of diverging paths after learning that I would attend a different high school than 40 of my private school classmates, many of whom I had known for over a decade. The film reflects the grief, acceptance, and healing that accompany such a significant transition. It delves into the deep, intertwined trauma bonds formed within the private school community, and the challenge of stepping into the unknown as I moved to a public school. Through this work, I wanted to capture the mixed emotions of leaving behind a familiar world while facing the uncertainty of new beginnings. Over the course of 5 months and finalized in freshman year, I explored themes of separation, personal growth, and resilience showing , despite taking different paths, the connections we’ve formed remain an integral part of who we are today.
