My relationship with my grandma has always been complicated. Most first-born grandchildren, particularly girls, feel that they are the favorite grandchild. For me it is the opposite; I am always overlooked. Writing this piece was healing for me because I was able to put emotions on the page that I had bottled up and question her actions in ways I could never say to her face. ”Frankincense” started as a short 100 word story that I wrote. I expanded it to a longer piece.
