• Artist Statement

  I don’t normally attempt surrealism projects, however I wanted to incorporate both personal aspects as well as from my own imagination. I often have very eccentric dreams and I wanted to capture one of those dreams in my piece. Deers are animals that i’ve grown very fond of because they’re common in the town I live in, to me they represent curiosity and tranquility. I wanted to add them to my project to contrast a weird setting with peaceful animals, helpless dangled by ribbons. I chose gouache because it’s my favorite medium I enjoy how forgiving it can be and it really makes the painting process enjoyable and fun for me!

• Creative Statement

  To me, creativity means being able to bring to life your own inner voice as well as thoughts, it can be difficult to express yourself and being able to unlock that inner voice is true creativity.
