This is my interpretation of the song Promise by Laufey. This song delves into the struggles faced when attempting to distance oneself from the past. Moving on from harmful people, experiences, and even mindsets are a tough but crucial part of life. When I sing this song I reflect on personal experiences when I had to distance myself from things that had been prominent in my life for a long time. Singing this song allows me to connect with the song’s meaning, sharing both the heartbreak and hope that comes with moving forward.
