The artwork expresses the theme of breaking out of oppression. By making the background smaller, I aimed to achieve a trompe-l’œil effect, with the subject emerging from the status quo. In the center are destroyed buildings from the war, and a child wearing a mask symbolizes the young generation leading the resilience. The owl flying away represents a bad omen departing, as believed in the Arab region. The chameleon signifies diversity. Finally, hope and beauty are symbolized by flowers that tie what was once destroyed. Only pen and pencil were used on simple canvas paper to express the barren state of the warzone and to encourage the viewer to feel inspired to get involved in filling the new world with colors.

Creativity to me means being able to express myself in a different way. Whenever I start sketching, I feel free from any restrictions. Through any medium of art, you are allowed to be as creative as you want with no one ever telling you what is right or wrong.
