• Artist Statement

  During my junior year I was introduced to the term ”machismo” while reading the book ”Always running”. The term stuck with me to this day and I still think about my manhood. My idea for the image came from my desperation to depict myself as a manly person though I choose to depict the figure as cowering with his hands up in defense. The partial messy style was on purpose to show my thoughts in color, I tend to express myself and life itself as a mixture of nonsensical lines and shapes because I feel that there is no other way to depict life itself.
