The Duality of Mental Health in California

Although California is one of the most progressive states in the USA in regards to mental health issues, I’ve observed a profound insensitivity and vitriol towards mentally ill people among my peers in the Bay Area. I was interested in exploring the duality of how mental health is treated here—how the state is progressive at an institutional level, but still lagging behind when it comes to individual empathy.

To me, creativity is the ability to express and channel your thoughts in a tangible way that both you and other people can interpret and understand.
