While creating this work, I knew I wanted to focus on yellow and red. I tried to translate my figures emotion, into the dramatic brushstrokes and exaggerated features. I wanted the wispy highlighted curls to complement the yellow, both framing the figure. While in contrast the dark features and bloodied marks reman held within the frame of her body. I find the red, yellow and the contrast between the two visually captivating.

Creativity to me is a way of being. Being creative is being able to notice the small instances that others may not. The bead of a pomegranate, the swoop of a hummingbird. The ability to be creative allows me to see art, not just make it. Creativity means existence.
