I wrote this piece with our future in mind, we often see apocalyptic scenes as something in fiction but this apocalypse is far from that. This story depicts a conversation between a girl and the remnants of our world. She is unable to comprehend the circumstances that shaped the brutal apathetic reality she was left with. I hesitate to be political when trying to win someone over; however, it must be mentioned that world powers have continuously failed to avoid the collapse of our climate. I, the youth, have been left with what seems like a false hope. I once held a vision of what our world could be. Lamentably, this story depicts what our world will be; it is uncomfortable, it is pessimistic, but it is the truth. I would not choose to write about the climate unless it were in fear and desperation.
