• Artist Statement

  Driving past San Francisco at sunset, I noticed the warm light spilling over Alcatraz Island. Alcatraz is often remembered for its dark history, but at that moment, it just seemed peaceful and mesmerizing in the light. The sailboats in the vicinity added to the atmosphere but also reminded me of how we are continuously sailing away from our pasts. The silhouette of the mountains in the background formed the perfect scene for a photograph. The final photo captured the perfect blend of light, nature and history. It goes to show how any moment can hold beauty if seen from the right perspective.
