Alcatraz

  • For this artwork, I explored my AP inquiry question: How have the physical and cultural environments of the SF Bay Area evolved over time? To dive into this theme, I focused on one of the most iconic and historically significant locations in the Bay Area: Alcatraz. I chose to capture a photo of a cell on the island and then digitally inserted images of old prisoners, still wearing handcuffs, dressed in suits. This juxtaposition symbolizes the fascinating and complex history of Alcatraz, emphasizing its cultural and historical significance for those of us living in the Bay Area today.

  • Creativity means being myself without fear. It’s listening to what feels right, even if it challenges what others expect. It’s pushing boundaries, encouraging people to see things differently, and using what I create to make a positive difference in the world.
