The inspiration behind this piece is how growth and death are opposites, but still harmonize together. I went with roses as my “growth” because they resemble beauty. My skull resembles the death of a past version of oneself. The sole meaning of this creation is that someone can grow in a beautiful, different way than the person they were before. It focuses on the growth and maturity that individuals experience throughout life as they age. My color choice brought this piece to life and really made everything come together. The base glaze I chose for the skull really represents the decay of the skull. The maroon color I chose with the roses coexists with this decaying color of the skull, further enhancing the meaning of my piece.

I believe that creativity is a way to express someone's mind in their own style, whether that means in art, science, or whichever way you like to express yourself. For me, creativity is an outlet to express things that I'm passionate or excited about.
