I wanted to capture the contrast between the long deep shadows, the bright neon lights and the sense of movement/excitement of the figures in the photograph. I like the ambiguity of the image and how it is difficult to discern where it is happening but also clear that something important is happening as everyone in the photograph seems to be moving with purpose. I am inspired by photo journalism and I am drawn to capturing moments rather than creating or manipulating images..

Creativity means freedom. So much of my time is spent being told what I need to do - from school assignments to sports practices to chores. But, when I am taking a photograph, I am only trying to please myself and follow my own vision.
