• Artist Statement

  The meaning behind this painting is simple: I wanted to capture the feeling of trying to remain calm through tough times, the serene expression contrasting sharply with the blasting explosion. I made this painting while a mountain of responsibilities loomed over me, but it became an honest reflection of how I felt in the moment. To create the soft, gentle expression on the face, I applied many thin layers of acrylic to achieve a smooth finish.
