City Silver

Eloisa L.

  • I wrote this narrative essay, almost entirely, in a frenzy after looking back at some old photos of my childhood spent in San Francisco. Some of that chaotic energy remains in the essay, with labyrinthine sentences, interjections in parentheses, and a general sense of movement. I wanted the piece to feel as though something was always occurring—as my constantly evolving relationship to the city, to my music, and to my family always has.

  • Without creative exploration and expression, I grow stagnant, and everything becomes dizzyingly unimportant. The moment I begin to be creative, every action and movement gains significance once more. Thus, creativity is the lifeblood of all I do and I hope to accomplish.
