Domina Mater

In the work "Domina Mater" light is used as a path of understanding, the darkness being grounded and the orange and yellow being something of a more divine nature. The natural creases of the face give the model a human nature, and relatability. The photo attempts to be two things at once, a grounded photo representing human nature and a photo of illumination calling to something untouchable in the human creation. This was made as an ode to the power of a lady, the universal relatability to women and their duality. The painting is named after the Lady Mother Mary, but incompasses all feminine creators of religion. Thank you to my model, such a message could not be expressed without the talent of another.

Creativity means not having to understand everything; it means that there is more to the world. Photographically, it means I can be in every role of a place or person; it allows me to express empathy, and it gives me the courage to be what I am scared to be.
