Dream

Anika B.

  • I made this film to capture a sense of dreaminess and immerse the viewer in the nighttime scene. As a filmmaker I intended to primarily focus on lighting, framing, camera movement, and color to create the tone. I was inspired by Jaroslav Kučera’s work on Daisies, specifically the use of the exposure and movement. I was also inspired by Wim Wender’s cinematography and how his visuals are very dreamy and explore abstract topics like memory. I had the idea of filming a simple sequence where a girl wakes up in a park and follows music that she hears across the park at night to a boy. Then she would wake up. The idea is that she is fascinated with adventure, but she can only have it in her dreams, or in the movies.

  • To me, creativity is like an ocean inside me. When I am rising above depression and have sufficient sleep, my curiosity increases, allowing me to access droplets from that ocean. Creativity is a state of enlightenment that gives me ideas to make art and live a vibrant, resourceful life.
