Echo of the Earth

  • I took this photo of the Vista House overlook as clouds began to clear. For a short time, the fog, river, and sky lined up in soft complementary colors, creating a peaceful and unreal scene. The Vista House, standing on the mountain ridge, appears tiny in my photo; however, it is actually 55 feet tall in person, which is about 5 stories high. I chose this specific perspective to illustrate the sheer magnitude of mother nature, and how human life is only a small fragment of the vast universe. I hope my photo reminds others who are going through challenging times to step back, breathe, and remember that hardships are temporary — just a small moment in a much larger story filled with beauty and possibility.

  • Creativity is my path to freedom. As an American Born Chinese, I often feel trapped between two cultures, unsure of where I belong. Creative photography allows me to express myself freely without restrictions, letting me explore my identity and allowing others to see their own stories reflected in my work.
