Elegies of a Lovesick Life: A Poetry Collection

Charlotte W.

  • Elegies of a Lovesick Life: A Poetry Collection is a compilation of three poems, each one reflecting a difficult aspect of the teen experience. Whether it’s the false belief that being wrong in an argument makes you weak, the realization that not all love can/should be chased, or the heartbreak that even the smallest of commas can bring, I have strived to represent the unseen struggles of our age group. Oftentimes, the adults and role models in our lives never see the silent pains of growing up, because frankly, they are just not us. Hours and hours of revising, inspiration, and arduous everyday experiences went into these three poems. As you read these emotional poems, keep in the back of your mind this notion: youth is not the absence of understanding, but merely a different kind.

  • Somedays, when you least expect it, a certain kind of motivation and spark arises and drives you to create something unique and profound. That spark, to me, is creativity. The deep desire and hunger to understand both myself and the world by bringing something new to life.
