The piece was inspired by my dad. He doesn't like me saying that though because the nose is quite big. So lets just say its a man. I started by rolling out a flat soft slab, then followed by applying a textured stamp. After this I connected the ends and made a base for the tree. I started pulling parts of the face from photos of a man, trying to achieve a face that's wise and aged. I wasn't sure if I should give ears or tree trunks or cover the top. I decided I would keep it simpler, to keep focus on the face and its emotion. I also just enjoy making pieces that can be wacky and interesting for people to see, but this time there's more of a special meaning for me and my dad.

Creativity means creating something new with passion from ones own ideas. It may mean adding or taking away from pre existing ideas, but ultimately making a new form of art.
