This poem illustrates an adolescent girl who is betrayed by a family member, symbolized by her roots which are inescapable. Throughout the poem, she attempts to restore the admiration she once had for that person and discovers that her efforts are unacknowledged. This poem captures the complexity of betrayal. Both the love and hate for the betrayer live simultaneously in the girl's heart. Ultimately, this conflict fosters resentment towards the betrayer.

Creativity to me means creating work which reflects emotions, imagination, and experience without boundaries and disregarding standards. Art is unique because it doesn't have to be pretty to be accepted. The piece could describe and portray messy and ugly emotions, but there will always be someone who appreciates it.
