• Artist Statement

  This digital artwork is based on a photograph I took while kayaking in Kenai Fjords, Alaska. I wanted to highlight the cohesion and harmony of nature by depicting one continuous mountain range in multiple seasons at once. As a child, I used to love solving puzzles, putting various pieces together to create one coherent larger image. When designing my piece, I utilized a jigsaw-puzzle motif, and fragmented the landscape into various environments contained within each puzzle piece, highlighting how all contrasting elements of nature work together forming one intertwined whole. I invite the viewers to draw their own meanings from this. Whether that's how humans are all interconnected, the diverse animal chain in an ecosystem, or anything else. While taking in this piece, I encourage viewers to reflect on what harmony looks like in their own life.

• Creative Statement

  To me, creativity means being able to create something that is unique and novel. I think it means being able to think originally based on things that have been made before you, bringing your own touch and expression into a piece.
