Lani Y.

  • Six months ago, I was given the prompt to write a poem of an insect. Hymnbug & Herbug are partner pieces, as their titles suggest, and both play off of realistic representations as well as each other. My nickname from my mother and friends was “bug” as a child– the opportunity to play off it was perfect. So, I wrote a rhyme about something I’ve also been heavily immersed in since childhood– music, and tied it together with rhymes.

  • To me creativity means expression; more-so the practice of putting it out there, coherently, into your preferred form in media! Art is best when shared.
