Imperfect Reflections

My artwork is a still life photo that I took and it was meant to emphasize the way different surfaces distort and reflect colors and light. My artistic process was mostly about the colors of the picture and creating emphasis on the shapes they make to form a bigger picture. When viewed up close, my artwork reveals blocks of paint and color, layered brushstrokes, and areas where the painting is imperfect. These details show the structure behind the image and the intentional looseness in my style. Most of the painting was done in one or two layers and this really expresses my style and the way I paint, prioritizing depth, movement, and definition, over perfect smooth paint strokes. This painting shows my expression as a painter through the imperfections and overall brushstrokes.

To me creativity is the idea of making something your own. I think you can draw something or paint something, but to create something new is to use ones brain and use your own style to portray it. This can reflect your life, experiences, and own sense of creativity.
