I discovered my passion for woodworking and industrial design this past year. I’ve always loved to build and fabricate things, but when placed in a setting that drove me to think conceptually and design for everyday use, I didn’t expect it to resonate so deeply. Designing not just for form, but for function, became far more meaningful to me than I had originally thought. For this piece, I challenged myself to combine two materials that could not be more different, wood and rope, but together formed a strong bond. I built this stool with wooden legs and a woven rope seat to explore balance through structure and tension. Each knot and crossing point holds the form together, showing how stability can come from what’s pulled tight. We are all interconnected, and this piece reflects that concept of how each part relies on one another to create strength and unity.

Stippling, filming, sculpting, and writing poetry, art is how I process the world. I bring parts of myself into everything I make: life as an athlete+artist, my love for nature+urban environments, and growing up Asian-American. These elements often meet in tension, and I bring them into balance in my work.
