• Artist Statement

  People often overlook depression because it isn’t a tangible thing they can see. This piece is meant to represent the fight against depression and despair as a physical battle, because I feel that having dark thoughts is one of the most consuming and life-altering burdens there is.

• Creative Statement

  Creativity is taking an intangible feeling and putting it in a form others can understand. It’s a skill the looming threat of AI can’t replace; a calculator solves numbers, but can’t write an equation. Similarly, AI can write essays, but can’t create poetry: it lacks the unique ability of creativity.
