Keeper of the Lights

  • As a photographer, I seek out images that make you pause and feel something uncertain, perhaps even conflicted. Disneyland has always been my “Happiest Place on Earth.” It's where I can forget my worries and live in the moment effortlessly. But when I took this photo, I saw the park very differently. The rides had stopped and the laughter had faded. Past the otherworldly glow of the lanterns and the empty teacups, one worker remained hunched over in the dim background. Behind the wonder and magic are the people that craft and sustain it. This photograph captures the quiet work and unseen care that continues when no one is watching. In the stillness of closing time, I saw beauty not just in the light itself, but in the human hands that keep it shining. We are all, in some way, keepers of the light.

  • Creativity is the ability to find wonder in the ordinary. Every creative act is a way of saying “Hello! I was here, I saw this, and it mattered.” It’s how I learn to notice, listen and translate what I see into something that reminds others their stories matter too.
