Loyal to the Last is a 100-page novel following a boy named Geoffrey trying to navigate life in the wake of his dad's death. Set at The School for Extraordinary and Unusual Talent in the early 1940s, Loyal to the Last seamlessly blends real world history with fictional elements of magic and monsters. My submission is segment of the larger novel. I made Loyal to the Last over the course of one year, juggling my this project with my school work and my ongoing theater productions. I took inspiration from some of my favorite books that I read as a kid, but put a lot of effort into my own research and making the story fun, original, and true to myself. As this is my first real piece of writing, I had a mentor to help me with the brainstorming and editing phases.

To me, creativity means thinking outside the box, outside of the norm. If someone is creative, they step outside their comfort zone and bring their audience with them. They do something that rings true to them and say something that needs to be said. They are unique, innovative, and original.
