My piece emphasizes courage and my reconnection with my cultural roots after years of self-doubt. When I was younger, I always felt nervous before visiting my relatives, as I feared that my ability to speak Marathi was not “enough.” However, my story captures this moment of shame as one of pride and acceptance, highlighting the beauty of courage and of trying to regain a once-lost cultural identity. Fear has a way of taking control over us, but the best thing to do is to build up the courage to face it. Writing this piece allowed me to celebrate the strength it takes to confront fear, reclaim lost parts of ourselves, and embrace the love and acceptance that surrounds us. Small acts of bravery can restore connection to identity and belonging.

To me, creativity is the quiet moment when an uncertain voice becomes bold. It’s the ability to shape something new out of hesitation, to turn doubt into expression. Creativity begins when we pay attention to the small details we usually overlook and choose to give them meaning.
