This is a digitally manipulated photo, where I blend two photos I took about a month apart from my school, layered and mirrored to create a double-exposure landscape. Here I compare the two landscapes shot from my school with around a month in separation. The stark hillside lined by boxy, lifeless homes matches my sentiment towards the month ahead. Above it, the warmer ray of sunlight signals the end of such a grueling chapter. October has historically been a very tough month for me, whether it be the shorter days, colder mornings, moodier skies, or just the higher workload. Together, the two scenes capture the feeling of moving out of one season as the next slowly comes into view.

Sometimes, after staring at a problem long enough, I get an idea that feels reckless. I would call it a “crazy idea” to give myself permission to be wrong, but some of my most creative moments come from breaking this comfort, embracing the risk of failure.
