• Artist Statement

  Oftentimes, when I think about history, I find myself assuming that the events of the past are divorced from the present, confined to my heavy textbooks. I challenged myself to overcome this assumption and see how the past and present truly relate to each other. In this case, I took these two photos. The photo on the left illustrates how the present (a modern building) reflects the past (an older building). The photo on the right shows how the past (an old sign with neon-lighting) adapts to the new (by advertising their presence on a delivery app)

  For me, creativity is an outlet to turn the world sideways and discover hidden ideas and messages.
