Reverie In Lavender

Lucien G.

  • I am autistic. Like, very autistic. My brain wiring is severely under connected in places, which makes it hard to control my body or speak. (My disability is not subtle). In other places, my brain wiring is wildly overconnected, creating layers of sensory cross-pollination - a synesthetic playground. It can, and often does, feel overwhelming. But it can also be beautiful. In this poem, I attempt to capture the full-body euphoria that something as simple as a color can elicit.

  • Creativity, specifically writing poems, saves my sanity. I'm forever creating in my head, and poetry provides a means to put it out in the world.
