Robert Schumann - Cello Concerto in a minor
Florence W.

Out of all the cello concertos, my favorite is Schumann's cello concerto. The piece has such a unique texture- unlike many bright and fast-paced concertos, it captures both hopelessness and hopefulness, introspective in nature. While I was recording the piece, I put special care into making sure each note sang with a resonant color and focused on changing that color as the themes shifted. Through my performance, I put my mind into capturing the true spirit of Schumann.

As the world becomes increasingly fast-paced, the creative arts have become my way of capturing the moment with pen and bow. Whether I’m sharing a smile with my chamber group, or creating three-part harmonies with kazoos, the creative communities in my life are the ones shaping and reshaping me.
