I wanted to not only portray myself through this composition but also depict how society often pressures women to adopt unrealistic standards, forcing them to feel the need to alter or change themselves as a result. My subject is ultimately examining herself while distorting her features in order to highlight this desire to change while simultaneously evoking a lighthearted mood in order to portray how this societal construct is often disregarded and normalized among women.

To me, creativity is a vessel that allows me to portray my inner emotions, beliefs, and ideas in a way that is both unique and personal to my experiences and who I am. It allows me to utilize painting, drawing, and any other creative forms as my voice.
