• Artist Statement

  My photograph is an exploration of femininity as a teenager. The desire to fit in and feel “pretty” to meet society’s standards, leads us to experiment with makeup and wardrobe until we fit in and still feel like ourselves. And yet, we only wear makeup for short periods of time, and our “beauty” only stays for that time. But we still attempt to immortalize it in photos and in moments of time. This beauty comes and goes, but the feeling of empowerment and joy stays with us.
