• Artist Statement

  Simple pleasures are biting into an ice cube, moving a small, wet worm off a concrete path, smelling fresh coffee in the morning, finding a crow feather on the ground, humming a song over and over again. When you’re having a bad day, or simply feeling down, shifting your focus to the world around you can alter your perspective entirely. For me, no matter how anxious I am, taking the time to stop and appreciate everything I see, smell, hear, and taste can lead me to discover something new. Something simple becomes exciting and fun, so I can’t help but smile. I created this piece to remind me of how simple happiness is and where to find it.
